Its purpose is to remind the user to clean the condenser coil, which is a critical heat-rejection component located either beneath the refrigerator behind the front grille or at the rear of the unit depending on the model.

The condenser coil releases heat absorbed from inside the refrigerator cabinet into the surrounding room air. Over time, dust, pet hair, and debris accumulate on the coil fins and the condenser fan area, reducing airflow and heat transfer efficiency. When the coil becomes heavily soiled, the compressor must work harder and run longer to maintain set temperatures, increasing energy consumption and potentially shortening compressor lifespan. Regular cleaning every 3 months is the recommended interval to prevent these issues.
