What ER73 means on a Ariston oven
ER73 is a touch control fault specific to the Key0 input on the Ariston oven's capacitive touch interface. The touch control board uses inductive rubber contact points to register button presses. When the Key0 input registers an unexpected signal, a stuck state, or a continuous activation without a physical press, the control interprets this as a malfunction and triggers the ER73 fault code. This prevents the oven from operating normally to avoid unintended behavior from a faulty input.
The most frequent cause of this fault is moisture or condensation accumulating on or behind the touch panel. Steam from cooking can work its way into the control area and cause the capacitive sensor to register a false contact on the Key0 input. This is why the first diagnostic step is to open the oven door and allow any condensation to fully dry before drawing conclusions about component failure.
If the fault persists after the drying period, the next physical check involves inspecting all inductive rubber pieces that sit behind the touch panel. These small rubber components transfer the capacitive signal from the glass or panel surface to the touch board. A missing, displaced, or degraded rubber piece can cause a continuous or erratic signal on the Key0 input. If all rubber pieces are confirmed present and correctly seated and the fault remains active, the display board itself has failed internally and requires replacement.

Common causes of ER73
- 01
Condensation or moisture on the touch panel
Wiring / connectionSteam from cooking can accumulate behind the touch control panel and cause the Key0 sensor to register a false continuous input. Opening the door and allowing the panel to dry completely is the first step before any other diagnosis.
- 02
Missing or displaced inductive rubber piece
Part replacementEach touch button relies on a small inductive rubber contact piece to transmit input signals to the board. If one of these pieces is missing, out of position, or has deteriorated, the Key0 input can read as permanently activated.
- 03
Failed display board
Part replacementIf drying the panel and confirming all inductive rubber pieces are present does not clear the fault, the touch control circuitry on the display board itself has likely failed internally and the board will need to be replaced.
- 04
Physical damage or contamination on the touch surface
Wiring / connectionGrease, food residue, or physical damage to the touch panel surface can interfere with capacitive sensing and cause a persistent false Key0 signal. Inspect the surface for visible contamination or cracks.
