What ER90 means on a Ariston oven
The ER90 error code on an Ariston oven indicates a fault with Key17 on the touch control panel. This is a specific button malfunction within the capacitive or resistive touch interface that governs oven operation. The touch control system relies on inductive rubber contact pieces seated beneath the display panel to register button presses. When one of these contact points fails to respond correctly, or sends an erratic signal, the control board interprets this as a Key17 fault and triggers the ER90 code.
The most common cause of this error is moisture or condensation on or behind the touch panel. Steam from cooking can migrate into the control panel area and temporarily disrupt the electrical contact between the inductive rubber pieces and the display board. This is why the first diagnostic step is to open the oven door and allow the condensation to fully dry before drawing any further conclusions. In many cases, the error will clear on its own once the moisture dissipates.
If the ER90 fault persists after the panel has dried, the next step is to physically inspect the inductive rubber contact pieces that sit beneath the touch keys. If any of these rubber inserts are missing, dislodged, or damaged, the Key17 position will register a continuous fault signal. When all rubber pieces are confirmed to be present and properly seated but the error continues, the display board itself has failed internally and will need to be replaced to restore normal operation.

Common causes of ER90
- 01
Condensation on the touch panel
Wiring / connectionSteam or moisture from cooking can collect behind the touch control panel and disrupt the Key17 contact point. Open the oven door and allow the panel to dry completely before testing again.
- 02
Missing or dislodged inductive rubber contact piece
Part replacementEach touch key relies on a small inductive rubber insert to make proper contact with the display board. If the rubber piece for Key17 is missing or out of position, the fault will persist even after drying.
- 03
Damaged inductive rubber contact piece
Part replacementA rubber contact insert that is cracked, compressed, or deformed will not transmit the correct signal to the board, resulting in a continuous Key17 fault reading.
- 04
Failed display board
Part replacementIf condensation has been ruled out and all inductive rubber pieces are present and undamaged, the display board itself has developed an internal fault and is misreading the Key17 input. The board must be replaced.
