What EEEE means on a BKI oven
The EEEE error code on a BKI oven indicates one of two conditions: the temperature inside the oven cavity has dropped below 50°F, or the time/temperature controller itself has experienced a failure. This code is generated by the controller when it detects a temperature reading that falls outside the expected operating threshold, which can point either to a genuine cold-environment condition or to a malfunction within the control electronics that govern temperature regulation and timing.
The time/temperature controller is the central management component for oven operation. It monitors cavity temperature continuously and uses that data to regulate heating cycles. When the controller fails or loses calibration, it may produce erroneous readings or become unresponsive, triggering EEEE as a fault condition. A controller failure can be caused by power surges, component aging, or corrupted programming.
In cases where the oven is simply too cold, such as after being installed in a cold environment or powered on after an extended shutdown in low ambient temperatures, the EEEE code may clear once the oven warms to an operational temperature. However, if the error persists after the oven has had time to stabilize or after reprogramming the controller, the controller unit itself is likely defective and will require professional evaluation and replacement by an authorized BKI service agent.

Common causes of EEEE
- 01
Oven temperature below 50°F
Wiring / connectionIf the oven was recently installed or powered on in a cold environment, the cavity temperature may be below the 50°F minimum threshold required for normal operation. Allow the unit to warm to room temperature and attempt to restart.
- 02
Corrupted controller programming
Wiring / connectionThe time/temperature controller can lose its programmed settings due to power interruptions or voltage fluctuations, causing it to misread conditions and trigger EEEE. Reprogramming the controller is the first recommended corrective step.
- 03
Failed time/temperature controller
Part replacementIf reprogramming does not resolve the error, the controller unit itself may have failed internally. A failed controller will need to be replaced by an authorized BKI service agent.
- 04
Power supply irregularity
Wiring / connectionA surge or sustained voltage irregularity can damage controller components or cause temporary malfunctions that produce this error. Inspect the power supply and verify the outlet or circuit is delivering stable, correct voltage.
- 05
Temperature sensor fault affecting controller input
Part replacementIf the controller is receiving inaccurate temperature data, it may register a reading below 50°F even when the oven is warm. This can mimic a controller failure and should be evaluated by a qualified technician.
