E222 indicates that the meat probe sensor in Cavity 2 has reported a temperature reading above the allowable limit, causing the oven to stop heating as a protective measure. The most common reason is that the probe was plugged into the receptacle but not inserted into food, exposing its tip directly to hot oven air. The oven will not resume heating in that cavity until the probe fault is resolved.

The oven halts heating in Cavity 2 when E222 is active, so active cooking in that cavity is not possible until the fault is cleared. The code is a protective response rather than a sign of a dangerous condition, but you should not attempt to bypass the error or force the oven to heat while the fault is present. Address the probe issue first, then resume normal operation.

If the issue is a failed meat probe, replacement probe costs typically range from around $30 to $80 depending on the specific model. If the probe receptacle requires replacement, parts and labor can bring the total to somewhere between $100 and $250. Control board replacement, which is rarely needed for this error, is the most expensive repair and can range from $200 to $500 or more with labor.

Start by removing the meat probe from the receptacle and powering the oven off and back on to clear the error. If you plan to use the probe, insert it fully into the food before plugging it into the receptacle. If the error returns even with the probe correctly placed in food, inspect the probe cable for damage and test the probe resistance to determine whether the probe itself needs to be replaced.

Powering the oven off at the circuit breaker or control panel and back on may clear the error temporarily, but it will return if the underlying cause is not resolved. If the probe was simply left in the receptacle without being in food, removing it and resetting the oven should clear the code permanently. If a faulty probe or damaged cable is causing the false reading, the error will reappear until those components are repaired or replaced.
