Bosch Oven Error Code F41

F41 means the motorized door latch on the upper or single oven failed to complete a lock cycle. The oven uses a small motor and position switches to lock the door during self-clean cycles, and the control board did not receive confirmation that the latch engaged. The fault can be caused by a jammed latch, defective switches, a failed motor, or a wiring or connector problem at the Power Board.

Normal baking and cooking functions may still operate while F41 is active because the fault is specific to the latch system used during self-clean cycles. However, you should not attempt to run a self-clean cycle until the latch fault is resolved, as the oven may not be able to properly secure the door at the extreme temperatures involved. Address the fault before using any high-heat cleaning mode.

Repair costs depend on the specific cause. If only the P4 connector needs reseating or the latch needs cleaning, costs may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150. Replacing a latch switch or motor generally adds $50 to $200 in parts, plus labor. If the Power Board requires replacement, total costs can reach $300 to $600 or more depending on the model and labor rates in your area.

Some F41 causes are accessible to a knowledgeable DIYer. Checking and reseating the P4 connector on the Power Board and inspecting the latch mechanism for visible obstructions or debris are reasonable first steps without specialized tools. Testing the latch motor continuity and switches requires a multimeter and some comfort with oven disassembly. If wiring or the Power Board itself is damaged, a technician is the safer choice.

A power reset by turning off the oven at the circuit breaker for several minutes may temporarily clear the error display, but F41 will return if the underlying mechanical or electrical fault is not corrected. A reset alone does not fix a jammed latch, a failed switch, or a defective motor. Use a reset only as a step to confirm whether the fault is intermittent or persistent after performing diagnostics.
