Bosch Oven Error Code F44

F44 means the lower motorized door latch has failed to unlock. The oven uses a motorized latch to secure the lower oven door during self-clean cycles, and when the control board cannot confirm the latch has returned to the unlocked position, it displays F44. The fault can stem from a defective latch motor, faulty latch switches, damaged wiring, or a connection issue at the P24 connector on the Power Board.

The oven may restrict operation while F44 is active because it cannot confirm the lower door latch is properly unlocked. Attempting to force the oven into operation with a latch fault present is not recommended. Resolve the underlying fault before resuming normal use.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. A latch motor replacement typically falls in the range of $150 to $350 including parts and labor. Latch switch replacement is generally less expensive, often in the $80 to $200 range. If the Power Board itself is involved, costs can be higher. Diagnostic fees from a technician usually run $75 to $125 and are sometimes applied toward the final repair cost.

Some steps are DIY-friendly, such as inspecting and reseating the P24 connector on the Power Board and checking the wiring harness for visible damage. Testing and replacing latch switches or the latch motor requires basic electrical diagnostic skills and a multimeter. If you are not comfortable working around oven wiring or disassembling the door latch assembly, a qualified appliance technician should perform the repair.

A power reset by disconnecting the oven from power for several minutes may temporarily clear the code, but F44 will return if the root cause has not been addressed. The latch motor, latch switches, or wiring must be inspected and repaired for the fault to clear permanently. If the latch is physically stuck, a reset will not allow the door to unlock.
