Electrolux Microwave Error Code DEMO ON

DEMO ON means your Electrolux microwave has been set to Demonstration Mode, a retail display setting that disables microwave power output entirely. The oven will appear to run normally, with the display and controls responding, but no heat will be generated. The timer will also count down much faster than normal. This is a software setting, not a hardware fault, and it can be cleared without any repairs.

The microwave is not generating any radiation or heat while in Demo Mode, so there is no safety hazard from the mode itself. However, you cannot actually cook or heat food in this state, so relying on the oven while it displays DEMO ON will simply result in cold food. Clear the mode using the key sequence or power reset before attempting to cook.

There is no cost associated with clearing Demo Mode if you can do it yourself using the key sequence or power reset, both of which are free. If you hire a technician to perform the reset for you, you would typically pay a standard service call fee, which generally ranges from $50 to $100 depending on your area. No parts are needed to resolve this condition.

To exit Demonstration Mode, press the Set Clock pad, then the number 0 pad, then the STOP/CLEAR pad in sequence. If that key combination does not work on your specific model, unplug the microwave from the wall outlet, wait at least 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Check whether the oven heats food normally after the reset before considering any further steps.

Unplugging and replugging the microwave is one of the two recommended methods for clearing Demo Mode, and it often works. However, because Demo Mode is stored in non-volatile control board memory, a simple power cycle does not always clear it on every model. If the DEMO ON message returns after the power reset, use the Set Clock, 0, and STOP/CLEAR key sequence instead.
