The refrigerator is actively trying to protect the freezer compartment when Fr is displayed, but if the underlying problem is serious, freezer temperatures may not stay cold enough to safely store food. Check that frozen food remains solidly frozen and the freezer feels adequately cold. If temperatures seem questionable, move perishables to an alternate freezer while the issue is diagnosed.

Repair costs vary depending on which component is responsible.
