Prob ERR means the oven control cannot detect a valid signal from the meat temperature probe. This can occur because the probe connector is not fully inserted into the jack, the probe cable is damaged, or the probe has an internal short circuit. The control board triggers this code any time the probe circuit falls outside the expected parameters.

Resetting the range by cutting power at the breaker may temporarily clear the display, but the error will return as soon as the oven attempts to use the probe again if the underlying problem is not resolved. The code will only stay cleared once the probe is properly connected or replaced.

If the fix is simply reseating the probe connector, there is no parts cost involved. If the probe itself is defective and needs replacement, the cost of a replacement meat probe typically falls in the range of $20 to $60 depending on the model. If a technician is needed to diagnose or replace the component, labor costs will add to that total.

Start by removing the probe connector from the jack and reinserting it firmly until it is fully seated. If the error clears, the probe was loose. If the error remains, inspect the probe cable for visible damage such as kinks, burns, or exposed wires. A damaged or short-circuited probe will need to be replaced with the correct probe for your model.

The Prob ERR code is specifically related to the meat probe circuit and does not indicate a problem with the oven's baking or broiling functions. You can typically continue to use the oven for standard cooking as long as you do not need probe-based temperature monitoring. Simply remove the probe from the jack if you are not using it, which should clear the error during normal oven operation.
