What E1 means on a Galanz dryer
The E1 error code on a Galanz dryer indicates a fault detected in the temperature sensor circuit. This sensor, typically a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor, monitors the air temperature inside the dryer drum or exhaust pathway and sends resistance-based readings to the control board. When the control board detects a resistance reading that falls outside the expected range, either because the circuit is completely open or because a short has driven the resistance to near zero, it triggers E1 and halts operation to prevent overheating or damage.
An open-circuit condition occurs when electrical continuity through the sensor or its wiring is broken entirely. This can result from a failed thermistor, a corroded or disconnected terminal, or a wiring harness that has cracked or separated due to heat exposure. A short-circuit condition occurs when unintended contact between conductors causes resistance to drop abnormally low, which can happen from pinched wiring, melted insulation, or moisture intrusion near the connector.
The first step in diagnosing E1 is to verify that the sensor connector is fully seated at both the sensor end and the control board end. Loose plugs are a frequent cause of intermittent or persistent E1 faults. After confirming the connection, the sensor itself should be tested with a multimeter to check its resistance at a known ambient temperature and compared against the expected specification. Wiring continuity between the sensor and the board should also be checked for breaks or shorts to ground.

Common causes of E1
- 01
Loose or disconnected sensor plug
Wiring / connectionThe connector attaching the temperature sensor to the wiring harness may not be fully seated, interrupting the circuit. Inspect both ends of the sensor connector and press them firmly until they click into place.
- 02
Failed temperature sensor (thermistor)
Part replacementThe thermistor itself may have failed internally, producing either infinite resistance (open) or near-zero resistance (short). Testing the sensor with a multimeter and comparing the reading to the expected resistance value will confirm this.
- 03
Damaged or broken wiring harness
Part replacementWires running from the sensor to the control board can crack, fray, or separate due to repeated heat exposure and vibration. Visually inspect the harness for burnt insulation, pinch points, or visible breaks.
- 04
Corroded or burnt sensor connector terminals
Part replacementHeat and moisture can cause the metal terminals inside the sensor plug to corrode or oxidize, increasing resistance at the connection point. Inspect the terminals closely for discoloration, pitting, or burnt residue.
- 05
Faulty control board
Part replacementIf the sensor and all wiring test as intact and properly connected, the control board circuit responsible for reading the sensor signal may have failed. This is the least likely cause and should be considered only after ruling out all other possibilities.
