GE Microwave Error Code TURn

TURn is a user prompt displayed during the Auto Defrost cycle to signal that it is time to turn over or rearrange the food being defrosted. It is not an error code or fault condition. The microwave has intentionally paused the cycle and is waiting for you to reposition the food before continuing.

The microwave will simply remain paused with the TURn display showing until you respond. It will not continue defrosting on its own, and there is no safety hazard from leaving it paused. However, partially defrosted food left at room temperature for extended periods can enter an unsafe temperature range, so it is best to respond to the prompt promptly.

No repair is needed when TURn appears. This display is a built-in feature of the Auto Defrost cycle and indicates the microwave is operating as intended. There is no component failure, no part to replace, and no service call required.

Open the microwave door and turn or rearrange the food as directed in the Auto Defrost Guide for your model. Once the food is repositioned, close the door and press START. The defrost cycle will resume automatically and the TURn display will clear.

Unplugging the microwave or canceling the cycle will clear the display, but doing so will also end the Auto Defrost cycle entirely. To properly complete defrosting, you should respond to the TURn prompt by turning the food and pressing START rather than canceling or resetting the unit.
