This system uses a humidity sensor, sometimes called a vapor or steam sensor, to detect moisture released by food during cooking. The sensor monitors the rate at which steam is emitted and uses that data to automatically adjust cooking time and power levels. When the sensor fails to detect an adequate vapor signal within the expected window, or the signal falls outside the acceptable parameters, the unit throws this error and halts the sensor cooking cycle.

There are two primary triggers for this code. The first is a sensor detection failure, where the humidity sensor does not register a vapor reading at all, or registers one too late or too early in the cycle. This can happen when the food quantity is very small, when the dish is sealed too tightly allowing no steam to escape, or when the sensor itself is contaminated with grease or food residue. The second trigger is an input error, where a weight or quantity value was entered that falls outside the range the sensor cooking program accepts. Entering a value that is too high or too low for the selected sensor cook function will immediately generate this code.

In most cases, the error does not indicate a catastrophic component failure. Grease or residue buildup on the sensor window is a frequent cause and is correctable with cleaning. If the error recurs consistently even after cleaning and using appropriate food quantities, the humidity sensor itself may need to be tested or replaced. Until the root cause is resolved, using the manual time cook mode is the recommended workaround.
