The dryer will continue to operate, but the exhaust ductwork needs to be inspected and cleaned promptly. Ignoring the warning can lead to worsening restriction and eventually a d90 or d95 code.

LG allows continued dryer use when the d80 code is displayed, so the appliance is not in an immediate shutdown condition. However, a heavily restricted exhaust duct increases drying times, raises energy use, and puts more strain on the heating system and motor. More importantly, lint buildup in ductwork is a recognized fire hazard, so the restriction should be cleared as soon as possible rather than ignored. Do not continue operating the dryer long-term without addressing the underlying blockage.
