OE on an LG dryer signals a drainage pump malfunction. The control board has detected that the drain pump is not working properly or that the water collection container is full. The dryer will stop the cycle until the drainage issue is resolved. Checking the hose, emptying the container, and verifying pump operation are the recommended starting points.

It is not recommended to continue running the dryer while OE is active. The code means moisture is not being evacuated from the drum properly, which can reduce drying performance and potentially cause condensation buildup inside the unit. Addressing the drainage issue before resuming normal use is the safest approach.

Repair costs vary depending on the cause. If the fix is simply emptying the water container or straightening a kinked hose, there is no parts cost and only minimal time involved. If the drain pump motor has failed, parts and labor combined typically range from around 100 dollars to 250 dollars or more, depending on your location and the specific model. Cleaning a clogged pump filter is a low-cost repair that falls between those extremes.
