LG Dryer Error Code PF

PF stands for Power Failure on an LG dryer. It means the dryer detected an interruption or problem with its incoming electrical supply during or between cycles. This is not an internal component fault. It points to the home's power supply, the circuit breaker, or the physical connection of the power cord to the dryer's terminal block.

Restarting or resetting the dryer will clear the PF display, but the code will return if the underlying power supply problem is not corrected. If PF was caused by a brief power outage and normal power has been restored, simply restarting the dryer should be sufficient. If the breaker is tripped or a wiring issue exists, those conditions must be resolved first.

If the cause is simply a tripped breaker or a brief power outage, there is no cost involved at all. Replacing a blown fuse is typically inexpensive, in the range of a few dollars for the part. If the power cord needs to be replaced, parts and labor can range from roughly $20 to $80 depending on cord type and whether a technician is hired. Electrical panel work by a licensed electrician will cost more, generally in the range of $75 to $200 or higher depending on the scope of the issue.

Start by going to your electrical panel and checking the breaker for the dryer circuit. If it has tripped, switch it fully to OFF and then back to ON. If the breaker is fine, unplug the dryer and inspect the power cord connection at the terminal block on the rear of the machine, tightening any loose wire connections. After restoring power, restart the dryer to see if PF clears.

PF itself is a protective notification rather than a sign of internal damage, but the conditions that cause it can involve real electrical safety concerns. A repeatedly tripping breaker, a damaged power cord, or loose terminal block connections can create fire or shock hazards and should be inspected and corrected promptly. If the breaker continues to trip after being reset, consult a licensed electrician before using the dryer again.
