Both genuine over-capacity installations and incorrect indoor unit capacity codes can cause this error.

Continuing to operate the system with error code 51 active is not recommended. The fault indicates the system may be configured beyond its design limits, which can place excessive load on the outdoor unit's compressor and refrigerant circuit over time. The system may shut down or restrict operation to protect itself. It is best to have the installation audited and corrected before resuming normal use.
