This causes the system to halt operation until the communication link is restored. When error code 55 is active, the heat pump will typically suspend normal operation, so continued use is not possible until the fault is cleared. This is a communication fault rather than a hazardous mechanical or electrical failure, but the system should not be forced to operate while the central controller link is broken.
