LG Heat Pump Error Code CH01

CH01 on an LG heat pump indicates a problem with the Remote Room Air Temperature Sensor circuit. The control board has detected either an open circuit, a short circuit, or a disconnected sensor. The system relies on this sensor to measure room temperature and control heating or cooling output, so the fault will disrupt normal operation until it is resolved.

Resetting the unit may temporarily clear the CH01 code, but the error will return if the underlying sensor or wiring fault is not corrected. A reset should only be performed after completing a physical inspection and any necessary repairs. Repeatedly resetting without addressing the cause will not fix the problem and may mask a developing fault.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If only a connector needs reseating or cleaning, there may be minimal or no parts cost, with labor typically ranging from $75 to $150 for a service call. Replacing the NTC temperature sensor itself is generally an inexpensive part, with total repair costs including labor often falling in the $100 to $250 range. If the fault involves PCB replacement, costs can be significantly higher.

Some causes of CH01 are accessible to a knowledgeable DIYer, such as reseating a loose connector or inspecting the wiring harness for visible damage. To confirm sensor health, you can unplug the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter, looking for approximately 10k ohms at 25 degrees Celsius. However, if the fault is traced to the PCB itself or requires disassembly of sealed components, a qualified technician should perform the repair.

Operating the heat pump with an active CH01 code is not recommended. Without a valid room temperature signal, the control board cannot accurately regulate system output, which can lead to inefficient operation or additional component stress. In many cases the unit will limit its operation or shut down automatically as a protective response.
