E205 indicates that the indoor unit connected through the confluence kit has lost continuity with the main control unit (MCU). The confluence kit is a branch controller used in multi-split systems to link multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit. The MCU detected that the communication or electrical path to one indoor unit is broken, so the system stopped operating to prevent further issues.

A simple power reset alone is unlikely to permanently clear E205 if the underlying cause is not addressed. The error will return on restart if the DIP switches or rotary switch remain incorrectly set, or if a wiring fault or component failure is present. Resetting the switch positions correctly and then restarting the system is the recommended approach, and in many cases this does resolve the error for good.

If the error is caused by incorrect switch settings, the repair cost is limited to a service call fee, generally in the range of $75 to $150 depending on your location and the technician. If the confluence kit needs to be replaced, parts and labor combined can range from $300 to $700 or more depending on the kit model and local labor rates. Control board replacements tend to fall in a similar or higher cost range.

However, the system will not operate normally while the fault is active, which means heating or cooling to the affected zone will be unavailable.
