E429 indicates a main cooling solenoid valve open circuit error. The control board is not detecting a complete electrical circuit through the solenoid coil that controls refrigerant flow in cooling mode. This fault typically points to a failed coil, a broken wire, or a disconnected connector at the valve.

Operating the system while this fault is active is not advisable. The main cooling solenoid valve controls refrigerant routing during cooling, and bypassing this fault could result in improper refrigerant flow and potential compressor damage. The system may already be limiting operation automatically as a protective measure.

A power reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but if the underlying open circuit condition in the solenoid valve wiring or coil has not been corrected, the fault will return once the system attempts to operate in cooling mode again. The physical fault must be diagnosed and repaired for the error to stay cleared.
