E466 indicates that the outdoor unit's Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV) failed its self-diagnosis close test. The system detected that the valve was not confirming a proper closed position during the routine check. This fault points to a problem with the EEV valve itself, its coil, the associated wiring, or the outdoor control board's driver circuit.

Continuing to operate the unit with an active E466 fault is not recommended. A malfunctioning EEV can cause improper refrigerant flow, which may lead to compressor damage over time. The system may also operate inefficiently or fail to heat and cool correctly. It is best to shut the unit down and have it inspected promptly.
