P752 indicates that the outdoor unit's second Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV 2) has failed its open-position self-diagnosis routine. The heat pump's control board commands the valve to a specific position and checks the response. When the valve does not confirm proper operation, the error is logged and the system may shut down that circuit to protect against refrigerant flow issues.

Operating the unit with an active P752 fault is not recommended. The EEV failure means refrigerant flow may not be properly controlled, which can lead to compressor damage, reduced efficiency, or further system faults. The safest approach is to turn the unit off and have it inspected before resuming normal operation.

Repair costs vary depending on which component has failed and local labor rates. Wiring harness repairs or connector cleaning are typically the least expensive fixes, often in the range of $75 to $200 for labor. Replacing an EEV coil or full valve assembly can range from $150 to $500 or more depending on parts and labor. An outdoor control board replacement can push costs higher, sometimes between $300 and $700 or more, depending on the model.
