Error code 08 on an LG refrigerator signals a freezer fan motor fault. The refrigerator's control board has detected either an operational failure of the freezer evaporator fan motor, a problem with the feedback signal line that confirms the motor is running, or a missing or disconnected motor wire. This error can result in inadequate cooling in both the freezer and fresh food compartments.

Continuing to use the refrigerator with an active error 08 is not recommended. The freezer fan is critical for moving cold air through both the freezer and refrigerator sections. Without it functioning correctly, food in both compartments may reach unsafe temperatures.
