Miele Washer Error Code F4154

F4154 is a water drainage fault triggered when the Miele washer's control system opens the drain valve (valve 1Y26) but fails to detect that the water level has dropped to the target level within 5 minutes. The washer continuously monitors the drum water level through its pressure sensor system. When a drain cycle begins, the control unit signals valve 1Y26 to open and starts a timer. If the pressure sensor still reads water above the expected target level after 5 minutes, the system logs F4154 and halts the cycle to prevent overflow or mechanical damage.

The most common physical causes involve blockages or restrictions in the drain path. The concertina hose connecting the drum to the drain pump or valve can become crushed, kinked, or collapsed under the machine's weight or through improper installation, severely restricting flow. Blockages in the drain hose, standpipe, or household drain can also prevent adequate water removal within the allowed time window. Additionally, a blocked pump filter is a frequent culprit, as accumulated lint, coins, or debris can reduce pump output to the point where drainage takes longer than the 5-minute threshold allows.

On the component side, valve 1Y26 itself may be at fault if it is not opening fully or at all due to electrical failure or mechanical seizure. The vent on the drain system also requires inspection, as a blocked or improperly routed vent can create a vacuum lock that slows or stops drainage entirely. Verifying the drain hose is not inserted too deeply into the standpipe is also important, since an airtight seal at that connection can produce a siphoning vacuum that interferes with normal drainage.
