The Power Up Alarm on a Viking refrigerator is a notification alarm, not a fault code indicating component failure. It activates whenever the unit experiences a power interruption, including the initial moment of plugging in the appliance, a household power outage, or when the power switch is manually switched off and back on. The alarm presents visually through all temperature indicator lights flashing simultaneously, signaling that the refrigerator's control system has detected a power restoration event and is waiting for user acknowledgment before resuming normal operation.

This behavior is by design in Viking's control architecture. The alarm serves as a prompt to confirm that the unit is back in operation and that temperatures are being actively monitored after any gap in power supply. Because the control board resets to default factory temperature settings after any power loss, the flashing indicator lights also alert the user to verify that the compartment temperature setpoints match their preferred settings. If a user had configured custom temperature settings prior to the outage, those values will need to be re-entered manually after clearing the alarm.

The alarm presents no risk to the refrigerator's components and does not indicate any malfunction in the sealed system, evaporator, or electronic controls. It is cleared immediately by pressing the Alarm Off pad or the Display On pad on the control panel. After acknowledgment, the unit resumes cooling at factory default temperatures, and the technician or homeowner should verify and restore any previously customized setpoints to ensure proper food preservation.
