This fault lives inside the control board itself, not in an external component like a temperature sensor.

Using the range with an active F1-E5 code is not advisable. Because this fault indicates the control board's calibration data is unreliable, the oven cannot accurately regulate temperature. This means bake and broil functions may overheat, underheat, or behave unpredictably. Surface burners on a gas range may still function, but the oven should not be used until the control board is replaced.

Unplugging the range for five minutes may clear the F1-E5 code temporarily if the fault was triggered by a transient power event. However, if the control board's calibration data is genuinely corrupted or the board has failed, the code will return once the range is powered back on and the board runs its self-check. A reset is worth trying first, but a recurring F1-E5 means the control board needs replacement.

The primary fix for F1-E5 is replacing the electronic control board. Before doing so, unplug the range, wait five minutes, and restore power to see if the code clears, as a temporary power disruption can occasionally trigger it. Also reseat all wire harness connectors at the control board to rule out a loose connection. If the code returns after these steps, the board needs to be replaced with a part matching your model number.
