Error code 7 on a Bosch dishwasher indicates a fault in the NTC thermistor circuit, specifically a short circuit or open circuit in the water temperature sensor. The control board cannot receive a valid temperature signal and responds by completing the current cycle without activating the heating element. Dishes will not be washed or dried at proper temperatures until the fault is resolved.

The dishwasher is designed to continue running the program without heating when error code 7 is active, so there is no immediate safety hazard. However, because the water will not be heated, the machine will not clean or sanitize dishes effectively and drying performance will be significantly reduced. Running the dishwasher in this state is not recommended as a long-term solution.

A reset may temporarily clear the displayed error code, but if the underlying thermistor fault is still present, the code will return as soon as the control board checks the sensor circuit again.
