FILTRCHG is a maintenance reminder indicating that the water filter has been in service for 6 months and needs to be replaced immediately. It is not a malfunction or component failure. The code is generated by an internal timer in the dishwasher's control system, and it will remain on the display until the filter is replaced and the reset procedure is completed.

Performing the reset without installing a new filter will clear the alert from the display, but the existing filter will continue to degrade and may affect wash performance and water quality. The reset procedure restarts the 6-month internal timer, so the reminder will not reappear for another 6 months even if the old filter remains in place. It is strongly recommended to replace the filter before resetting.

The cost depends on the price of the replacement water filter, which typically ranges from $20 to $60 depending on the specific model and where it is purchased. If the filter change and reset are performed as a do-it-yourself task, there are no additional labor costs. If a technician is needed, expect to add a service call fee on top of the part cost.

Start by replacing the water filter with a compatible replacement part. After the new filter is installed, press and hold the Ice and Vacation buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to disable the filter change alert and reset the internal timer. If you need to enter filter change mode first, press and hold the Ice and Super Cool buttons for 3 seconds.
