F12 on a Bosch refrigerator means the temperature sensor in the freezer compartment has been detected as short-circuited. The sensor is responsible for reporting the freezer temperature to the control electronics, and a short circuit causes it to send an invalid signal. The refrigerator displays F12 to alert you that this sensor circuit needs inspection and repair.

Continued use with an F12 error is not recommended for extended periods because the control board cannot reliably monitor freezer temperature with a shorted sensor. This could result in the freezer running too cold, not cold enough, or cycling incorrectly, risking food spoilage. Address the fault as soon as reasonably possible.

A power reset, such as unplugging the unit for a few minutes, may temporarily clear the F12 display, but the code will return if the underlying short circuit in the sensor or cable has not been repaired.
