What PF means on a Dacor dishwasher
The PF error code on a Dacor dishwasher stands for Power Fail, and it indicates that the appliance experienced an interruption in its electrical power supply. This is a system-level status notification rather than a component fault code. The dishwasher's control board monitors incoming power, and any disruption, whether brief or extended, causes the board to log and display this code when power is restored. The code also appears during initial installation, when the unit is powered on for the first time after being connected to the home's electrical supply.
The most common trigger for PF is a momentary loss of household power such as a brief outage, a tripped circuit breaker, or a GFCI outlet that has tripped on the dishwasher's circuit. Loose wiring connections at the junction box or at the terminal block inside the dishwasher can also cause intermittent power interruptions that register as a PF event. In some cases, voltage fluctuations or a weak connection in the home's wiring can produce repeated PF codes even without a full outage.
Because PF is fundamentally a power continuity notification, it does not necessarily indicate a fault with any internal dishwasher component. The control board simply records that supply power was lost and restores display function once power returns. Pressing START/CANCEL clears the code and returns the dishwasher to normal standby operation. If the code appears repeatedly without an obvious external power event, the circuit wiring and breaker should be inspected before assuming the control board itself is faulty.

Common causes of PF
- 01
Household power outage or interruption
Wiring / connectionA brief or extended loss of power to the home will trigger the PF code when electricity is restored. Check whether other appliances or lights in the home were also affected around the same time.
- 02
Tripped circuit breaker or GFCI outlet
Wiring / connectionThe dishwasher's dedicated circuit breaker may have tripped, or a GFCI outlet on that circuit may have cut power. Inspect the electrical panel and any GFCI outlets near the dishwasher and reset them as needed.
- 03
First-time installation power-on
Wiring / connectionPF is a normal display when the dishwasher is connected to power for the first time during installation. Pressing START/CANCEL clears it and the unit will operate normally.
- 04
Loose wiring connection at junction box or terminal block
Wiring / connectionA loose or corroded wire connection in the home's junction box or at the dishwasher's internal terminal block can cause intermittent power loss that registers as a PF code. Inspect connections for tightness and signs of arcing or corrosion.
- 05
Faulty control board
Part replacementIf PF appears repeatedly without any external power event, the control board itself may be misreading power supply continuity. This is the least common cause and should only be considered after ruling out all wiring and circuit issues.
