What C90 means on a Dacor oven
The C90 code on a Dacor oven is an informational status code indicating that the oven experienced a loss of electrical power and has since been restored. This is not a fault in the traditional sense, meaning no component has failed and no safety issue has been detected. Instead, the control board is alerting the user that a power interruption occurred, which caused the oven to lose its operational state, any active cooking programs, and the clock setting.
The control board monitors incoming power continuously. When power drops below the threshold required to maintain board operation and then returns, the board logs this event and displays C90 to notify the user. This behavior is by design, ensuring that any cooking cycle that was interrupted does not silently resume without the user's awareness, which could present a food safety concern if the oven had been mid-cycle during the outage.
Common triggers include brief household power outages, utility grid fluctuations, a tripped circuit breaker, or a loose connection at the wall outlet or junction box. In most cases, the event is external to the oven itself and no internal component is at fault. If C90 appears repeatedly without any known power outages occurring, it may point to an unstable power supply to the unit, a failing connection at the terminal block, or an issue with the household electrical circuit feeding the oven.

Common causes of C90
- 01
Household power outage
Wiring / connectionA brief or extended loss of utility power is the most frequent cause of C90. Check whether other appliances or lights in your home lost power around the same time.
- 02
Tripped circuit breaker
Wiring / connectionIf the dedicated circuit breaker for the oven tripped and then reset on its own or was manually reset, the oven will display C90 on the next power-up. Check the breaker panel for any breakers that are in the middle position or were recently reset.
- 03
Loose or intermittent power connection
Wiring / connectionA loose connection at the oven's terminal block, wall outlet, or power cord can cause momentary power drops that trigger C90 even without a full outage. If the code appears repeatedly with no known outage, inspect all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion.
- 04
Voltage fluctuation from the utility supply
Wiring / connectionUnstable grid power, particularly in areas prone to voltage sags or spikes, can cause the control board to register a power interruption. If this is recurring and no wiring issues are found, a licensed electrician should evaluate the incoming line voltage.
- 05
Failing control board
Part replacementIn rare cases where C90 appears repeatedly and all external power sources check out as stable, the control board itself may be incorrectly logging power loss events. This would require board inspection and possible replacement.
