The J9 code indicates an abnormality in the subcooling heat exchanger gas pipe thermistor, known as R6T. The control system has detected either a short circuit or an open circuit in this thermistor or its wiring. The first diagnostic step is to check whether the thermistor ASSY is properly connected to the X13A connector on the main PCB, then measure the thermistor resistance to determine whether the component itself has failed.

Running the unit while the J9 fault is active is not recommended. The subcooling heat exchanger thermistor provides data that the control system uses to manage refrigerant conditions, and operating without accurate readings can reduce efficiency or potentially cause further component stress.
