The control board serves as the central processing unit for the ice maker, coordinating the harvest cycle, water fill valve timing, evaporator temperature monitoring, and the drive motor or ejector mechanism. When the board is powered and its internal logic circuits are functioning correctly, the LED remains steadily lit. This distinguishes normal operation from fault conditions, which typically produce blinking patterns or extinguish the LED entirely.

If a technician is observing the steady LED in the context of a complaint that the unit is not producing ice, the indicator rules out a total power failure or control board failure as the root cause.
