What 1,3 means on a Electrolux range
Error code 1,3 on an Electrolux range indicates an open circuit in the oven temperature probe system. The oven temperature probe (also called an RTD sensor or oven sensor) is a resistive temperature detector that continuously reports oven cavity temperature to the electronic control board. Under normal operating conditions, the probe should measure between 1050 and 1100 ohms at room temperature. When the control board detects a resistance reading outside this range, or detects no signal at all, it interprets this as an open circuit and triggers error code 1,3, disabling oven operation to prevent uncontrolled heating.
The most common cause of this error is a failed oven temperature probe. The probe element itself can develop an internal break in the resistive circuit, especially after years of thermal cycling. The wiring harness connecting the probe to the control board is also a frequent culprit, as the connector pins can corrode, loosen, or suffer heat damage inside the oven cavity. A complete disconnection at either the probe end or the control board connector will also present as an open circuit.
Diagnosis begins by measuring the probe resistance directly at the probe terminals using a multimeter. A reading between 1050 and 1100 ohms confirms the probe is intact. If the resistance is significantly outside this range, infinite (OL), or zero, the probe requires replacement. If probe resistance tests within spec, the fault lies in the wiring harness or, as a final step, the electronic control board itself.

Common causes of 1,3
- 01
Failed oven temperature probe
Part replacementThe probe's internal resistive element can break after repeated heating and cooling cycles, causing an open circuit. Testing with a multimeter at the probe terminals will show a reading outside the 1050 to 1100 ohm range, or an infinite (OL) reading.
- 02
Damaged or disconnected wiring harness
Wiring / connectionThe wires connecting the temperature probe to the control board can suffer heat damage, corrosion, or loose connections over time. Visually inspect the harness and connector pins for burns, fraying, or oxidation.
- 03
Corroded or loose probe connector
Wiring / connectionThe connector at the back of the oven cavity where the probe plugs in can collect grease and moisture, leading to poor electrical contact. Disconnecting, cleaning, and reseating the connector may restore the circuit.
- 04
Probe physically damaged
Part replacementThe metal probe tip inserted into the oven cavity can be bent, cracked, or damaged by oven racks or cookware. Physical damage to the probe body can break the internal circuit even if wiring appears intact.
- 05
Faulty electronic control board
Part replacementIf the temperature probe tests within the correct 1050 to 1100 ohm range and the wiring harness shows no damage, the control board's probe input circuit may have failed. Board replacement is the final diagnostic step.
