What E6 means on a Equator washer
The E6 error code on an Equator washer indicates a communication failure between the display panel (DP) and the electronic module (EM). These two control boards rely on a dedicated communication cable to exchange signals that coordinate cycle selection, motor commands, water level data, and other operational parameters. When that signal pathway is interrupted or corrupted, the washer's control system detects the loss of communication and halts operation, triggering the E6 code.
The most common root cause is a loose, disconnected, or poorly seated connector at one or both ends of the communication cable. Vibration during wash and spin cycles can gradually work connectors loose over time. The cable itself may also suffer from pinched insulation, a broken wire strand, or corrosion at the connector pins, any of which can interrupt the data signal. In some cases, a failure within the display panel or the electronic module itself can produce the same error if one board stops responding to the other.
Diagnosis begins by removing the worktop and rear cover to access both control boards. Each connector on the communication cable should be unplugged and firmly re-seated to eliminate a loose connection as the cause. If the error persists after reseating both connectors, the cable should be inspected along its full length for damage. If the cable is intact and properly connected, one of the two control boards is likely at fault and will require further testing or replacement.

Common causes of E6
- 01
Loose or disconnected communication cable connector
Wiring / connectionVibration from normal wash and spin cycles can gradually loosen the connectors at either end of the cable linking the display panel and electronic module. Unplugging and firmly re-seating both connectors often resolves the error immediately.
- 02
Damaged communication cable
Part replacementThe cable running between the two boards may have a pinched, frayed, or broken section, particularly where it bends around panels or is routed near sharp edges. A visual inspection of the full cable length after disassembly will reveal this type of damage.
- 03
Corroded or dirty connector pins
Wiring / connectionMoisture or age can cause oxidation on the pins inside the communication cable connectors, increasing resistance and degrading the signal. Cleaning the pin contacts carefully can restore a reliable connection.
- 04
Faulty display panel (DP)
Part replacementIf the cable and connectors check out, the display panel board itself may have failed and is no longer transmitting or receiving the communication signal correctly. Replacing the display panel board is required in this case.
- 05
Faulty electronic module (EM)
Part replacementA failed electronic module can also cause an E6 error if it stops responding to communication signals from the display panel. This is typically diagnosed after ruling out the cable, connectors, and display panel as causes.
