Frigidaire Range Error Code E20

E20 indicates a loss of LIN communication between the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) and the ESEC User Interface Board (UIB). These two boards must continuously exchange data over a dedicated communication wire to operate the range correctly. When that signal is lost, the range displays E20 and stops functioning normally. The fault points to the wiring between the boards or to one of the boards themselves.

Start by locating the communication wire that runs between connector P6 on the EOC and connector P7 on the ESEC UIB. Disconnect and firmly reseat both connectors, then inspect the wire for any damage. If the error returns after confirming the wiring is intact, the EOC should be replaced first. If the fault continues after replacing the EOC, the UIB is the next component to replace.

If only the wire harness needs reseating or replacement, the cost can be minimal, typically in the range of $10 to $50 for parts if a new harness is needed. Replacing the EOC board generally runs between $100 and $300 for the part, while the ESEC UIB is similarly priced. Adding professional labor costs, a full repair involving board replacement could range from $200 to $500 or more depending on which components are needed.

Cutting power to the range at the breaker for several minutes may temporarily clear the E20 code, but the fault will almost certainly return if the underlying communication problem has not been fixed. A reset does not repair a loose wire, damaged harness, or failed control board. Proper diagnosis and repair of the communication circuit are required for a lasting fix.

It is not recommended to continue using the range while E20 is active. A loss of communication between the control boards means the oven may not respond correctly to temperature settings or user inputs, creating a risk of uncontrolled heating or other unpredictable behavior. The range should be powered off until the fault is diagnosed and repaired.
