The F020 code indicates that the oven and cooktop control boards are not communicating properly, which can result in unpredictable behavior or incomplete safety monitoring. The range should be inspected and repaired before resuming normal use.

Start by inspecting the wiring harness and connectors between the oven and cooktop user interface boards for any visible damage, corrosion, or loose connections. If the wiring looks intact and the error persists after a power reset, the next step is to test continuity of the communication wiring and then isolate the faulty board through substitution. Because two boards are involved, a qualified technician can help determine whether the oven board, the cooktop board, or the harness itself is the source of the failure.

A power reset is the recommended first step and will clear F020 if the fault was caused by a temporary communication glitch or power fluctuation. If the error returns immediately or shortly after, a hardware issue such as a damaged harness or failed board is likely the cause.
