F104 on a Frigidaire range means the main control board (GPU) and the oven user interface display board (OUI) have lost communication with each other. This prevents the two boards from exchanging the signals needed to operate the range normally. The fault is commonly triggered by a loose ribbon cable between the two boards, though board failure can also be responsible.

It is not recommended to continue using the range while F104 is active. A communication loss between the control boards means the range may not respond to inputs correctly or consistently. Operating an appliance with a known control system fault can create unpredictable behavior, so the issue should be diagnosed and corrected before regular use resumes.

Cutting power to the range for several minutes and then restoring it may temporarily clear the F104 code. However, if the root cause is a loose ribbon cable, damaged cable, or a failing control board, the error will return once the range is in use again. A reset is a useful first step to confirm the fault, but it does not substitute for diagnosing and correcting the underlying problem.
