GE Oven Error Code LOC ON

LOC ON means the control lockout feature is active on your GE oven. All touch pads on the control panel are disabled and will not respond to any input while this mode is engaged. It is not a malfunction or fault code. It simply means the keypad has been locked, either intentionally or accidentally.

The oven is safe, but you cannot start or control any cooking functions while LOC ON is active because the touch pads are completely disabled. If the oven was already running when the lockout was engaged, it will continue its current cycle. Unlock the controls using the 9 and 0 pad combination before attempting to use the oven.

There is no repair cost associated with LOC ON in the vast majority of cases because it is not a component failure. The lockout is cleared through a key pad combination at no cost. If the touch pads themselves are unresponsive even after performing the unlock procedure correctly, a control panel or control board issue may be present, and professional diagnostic service could range from roughly 75 to 200 dollars or more depending on parts and labor.

Press and hold the 9 pad and the 0 pad at the same time for approximately 3 seconds. The display should change from LOC ON to LOC OFF, confirming that the control panel is unlocked. Once LOC OFF appears, all touch pad functions will resume normal operation. No tools or parts are needed.

A power reset may not clear the LOC ON condition, as the control board can retain the lockout state through a power cycle. The correct method is to use the designated unlock sequence: press and hold the 9 and 0 pads simultaneously for 3 seconds until the display shows LOC OFF. This is the reliable way to exit the lockout mode.
