What F92x means on a GE range
The F92x error code on a GE range indicates a conflict in the door lock system: both the Lock-Home switch and the Unlock-Home switch are reporting a closed state at the same time. These two switches are part of the cam-driven lock mechanism, typically referred to as the RPSM (Range Power Supply Module) door lock assembly. Under normal operation, only one of these switches should ever be closed at a given moment, since they track opposite positions of the lock motor cam. When both report closed simultaneously, the control board detects a physically impossible condition and triggers the F92x fault.
The most likely mechanical cause is a lock motor cam switch that has become stuck in the closed position. The cam rotates between the locked and unlocked positions, and if one of its switches fails to open as the cam moves, both switches will appear active at the same time. Another mechanical cause is insulation or wiring material that has become wrapped around the cam, physically preventing it from completing a full rotation and leaving a switch compressed when it should be released. These conditions prevent the oven door lock from functioning correctly and block entry into or exit from a self-clean cycle.
If the mechanical components appear intact and no cam or switch damage is found, the fault may originate in the RPSM Main Board itself, which processes the switch signals. A failed input circuit on the board can misread switch states, producing the same error even when the lock assembly is mechanically sound. Diagnosis should proceed by inspecting the cam and switches first before condemning the board.

Common causes of F92x
- 01
Stuck Lock Motor Cam Switch
Part replacementThe cam switch responsible for signaling the locked or unlocked home position has failed in the closed state and does not open as the cam rotates. Inspect the switch contacts for physical damage, welding, or debris holding them closed.
- 02
Insulation or Wiring Wrapped Around the Cam
Wiring / connectionWire insulation or other material has become entangled around the lock motor cam, preventing it from fully rotating and keeping a switch compressed when it should release. A visual inspection of the cam area will reveal any obstruction.
- 03
Failed Lock Assembly
Part replacementThe entire door lock and cam switch assembly may be mechanically worn or damaged beyond individual component repair. Replacing the full assembly resolves both stuck switch and cam interference issues at once.
- 04
Faulty RPSM Main Board
Part replacementIf the lock assembly and cam are physically sound, the RPSM Main Board may be misreading the switch signals due to a failed input circuit. This is considered after mechanical causes have been ruled out.
