What FA10 means on a GE range
The FA10 error code on a GE induction range indicates a bridge board fault within the induction cooktop system. The bridge board, sometimes called the inverter bridge board, is the high-voltage power conversion component responsible for transforming AC line power into the high-frequency AC that drives the induction coils beneath the cooktop surface. When the control system detects an abnormal condition in this board, such as a switching failure, overcurrent event, or internal component failure, it triggers the FA10 code and disables the induction burners to prevent further damage or a safety hazard.
The bridge board contains power transistors or IGBTs (insulated gate bipolar transistors) that switch at high frequency to energize the coils. These components are subjected to significant thermal and electrical stress during normal operation. Failures can stem from a single shorted or open transistor, a failed gate driver circuit, damaged capacitors on the board, or a failure in the thermal management of the board itself. In some cases, a hard fault in the board will appear immediately at startup, while intermittent failures may only appear under load when the burners are actively heating.
Because the FA10 code points directly to the bridge board as the faulty component, the primary diagnostic step is replacement of that board. Before replacing, technicians should verify that line voltage is correct at the unit and that there are no obvious signs of burning, arcing, or physical damage to the wiring harness and connectors leading to the board. A failed board often shows visible signs of component burnout or swollen capacitors on close inspection.

Common causes of FA10
- 01
Failed induction bridge board
Part replacementThe bridge board itself has experienced an internal component failure, such as a burned IGBT transistor or failed capacitor. This is the most common root cause and typically requires board replacement.
- 02
Overheating of the bridge board
Wiring / connectionInadequate cooling or a blocked vent path can cause the bridge board to overheat and fail or trip a thermal protection circuit. Check for debris around the unit's ventilation openings and confirm the cooling fan operates properly.
- 03
Damaged wiring or connector to the bridge board
Wiring / connectionLoose, burned, or corroded connectors between the main control board and the bridge board can cause communication or power delivery failures that register as a bridge board error. Inspect all harness connections for damage before replacing the board.
- 04
Power surge or voltage irregularity
Part replacementA spike in the incoming line voltage can damage the switching transistors on the bridge board. If the failure followed a power outage or storm event, the board may have been damaged by the transient voltage.
- 05
Main control board sending incorrect signals
Part replacementIn less common cases, the main control board may be sending faulty gate signals to the bridge board, causing the bridge board to report an error even though it is not the primary failed component. If a new bridge board does not resolve the FA10 code, the control board should be evaluated.
