KitchenAid Dishwasher Error Code PF

PF stands for Power Failure. It appears on KitchenAid dishwashers whenever the appliance detects that AC electrical power has been interrupted and then restored, or when power is applied for the first time. It is an informational alert, not a component fault. No repair is needed if no other error codes are present.

The PF code will not clear automatically. It requires manual intervention through the CANCEL button sequence. Following the two-step CANCEL process completes the drain cycle and resets the control board so you can begin a fresh cycle.

In most cases, clearing a PF code costs nothing because no parts are needed. If the code is caused by a tripped breaker or a brief power outage, the CANCEL reset procedure resolves it at no cost. If repeated PF codes point to a wiring issue or a failing control board, diagnostic and repair costs from a technician could range from $100 to $350 or more depending on parts and labor in your area.

Make sure the dishwasher has a stable power supply and that the door is fully closed and latched. Press the CANCEL button once, and the unit will run a short drain cycle to clear any standing water. When the drain cycle finishes, press CANCEL a second time to fully reset the display. The dishwasher is then ready to start a new cycle.

PF itself does not indicate a safety hazard. It simply means power was interrupted. However, if the code is appearing repeatedly without any obvious outages, you should inspect the electrical circuit for loose wiring, a failing breaker, or unstable voltage, as those underlying conditions could present electrical risks if left unaddressed.
