Lennox Furnace Error Code E211

E211 means the furnace control board has not received a communication signal from the thermostat for more than 3 consecutive minutes. Lennox communicating systems rely on a digital data connection between the thermostat and the furnace, and when that link is lost for the defined time window, the furnace logs E211 and halts normal operation. The fault is a communication error, not a mechanical or heat-related failure.

E211 is a communication fault, not a safety lockout related to gas, heat, or combustion. The furnace suspends operation because it cannot receive instructions from the thermostat, not because a hazardous condition was detected. However, the furnace will not heat your home while the fault is active, which can become a comfort or pipe-freeze concern in cold weather. Resolving the communication issue restores normal furnace operation.
