E295 means the indoor blower motor temperature became too high and the motor's internal thermal overload protector tripped to prevent damage. The furnace shuts down blower operation when this occurs. The root cause is typically worn bearings, elevated amp draw, or restricted airflow that prevents adequate motor cooling.

Continuing to operate the furnace with a tripping blower motor is not advisable. The blower circulates heat away from the heat exchanger, and without proper airflow, the heat exchanger can overheat and potentially crack over time. Address the E295 error before returning the furnace to normal use.

Costs vary depending on the cause. If only a filter replacement or minor airflow correction is needed, the expense is minimal. A run capacitor replacement typically falls in the range of $75 to $200 including labor. Full blower motor replacement generally ranges from $300 to $700 or more depending on the specific motor, labor rates, and your location.
