Error code 223 on an LG air conditioner indicates a temperature sensor error on the sub-cooling discharge pipe of HR unit 6. The control board has detected either an open circuit or a short circuit on that sensor circuit. This prevents the system from monitoring discharge pipe temperature in the sub-cooling stage, so the unit shuts down as a protective measure.

A reset may temporarily clear the fault display, but the error will return if the underlying sensor or wiring issue has not been resolved. The control board will re-detect the open or short circuit on the next operational cycle and repost the code. A proper repair of the sensor or wiring is required for a permanent fix.

If only a connector needs reseating or cleaning, the repair cost may be minimal, covering only the labor time for diagnosis.
