Error code 230 indicates a temperature sensor fault at the sub-cooling inlet pipe on HR unit 8 of the LG heat recovery system. The control board has detected either an open circuit or a short circuit in the sensor or its lead cable. This prevents accurate refrigerant temperature monitoring on that branch of the heat recovery system. The system will not operate normally until the fault is resolved.

Continuing to operate the system with error code 230 active is not recommended. The sub-cooling inlet pipe temperature sensor provides critical data for refrigerant management in the heat recovery circuit. Without accurate sensor input, the system cannot properly regulate sub-cooling, which could lead to reduced efficiency or potential damage to system components over time.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If only a connector needs to be reseated or cleaned, the cost may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150. If the sensor itself needs replacement, parts and labor combined generally fall in the range of $150 to $400 depending on parts availability and technician rates. A power reset may temporarily clear the error code, but it will return if the underlying sensor or wiring fault has not been corrected.
