E217 indicates an MCU branch part setup error, meaning an indoor unit is physically connected to a port on the MCU but the dip switch for that port is set to Off. The MCU cannot validate the configuration and triggers this fault to prevent improper operation. It is a configuration error, not a component failure, and is resolved by enabling the correct dip switch and pressing K3 to reset the system.

The system will typically stop normal operation when E217 is active, so continued use is not possible until the fault is cleared. The error itself does not indicate an electrical hazard, but you should not attempt to bypass the fault. Correct the dip switch configuration and reset the unit before resuming operation.
