E225 indicates an error with the control box temperature sensor on the main outdoor unit. The sensor circuit has either shorted or opened, meaning the control board is receiving an abnormal or absent signal from that sensor. The outdoor unit shuts down to protect its electronics until the fault is corrected.

The unit will generally prevent itself from operating normally when E225 is active, as the shutdown is a protective measure for the control box electronics. Attempting to bypass or ignore the fault could risk damage to the control board and other electrical components. It is best to have the fault diagnosed and repaired before resuming normal operation.
