OF r stands for Fridge-Off Forced Operation on LG RSG5V series refrigerators. In this mode, the compressor runs at 3600 RPM while the fresh food compartment cooling is suspended and the TDM valve is held in a fixed position with the fridge valve open and the freezer valve off. This is a diagnostic test state used to evaluate TDM valve behavior, not a standard fault code. The fridge section will not cool normally while this display is active.

It is not safe to leave the refrigerator in OF r mode for extended periods if food is stored in the fresh food compartment. Because the fridge section is deliberately shut off during this mode, temperatures in that compartment will rise over time, creating a food safety risk. The freezer compartment may continue operating depending on system behavior, but the fresh food section should be considered unprotected. Exit the mode as soon as possible and verify that temperatures return to normal operating ranges.

If OF r was triggered accidentally, there is no repair cost since simply exiting the mode restores normal operation. If a stuck panel button is the cause, button or control panel replacement typically costs in the range of $75 to $200 including parts and labor.
